Shortstop Nomar Garciaparra said he will meet with Chicago Cubs officials Friday to determine the next step of his rehabilitation from an injured groin. Garciaparra went 0-for-1 Thursday, drawing two walks and scoring a run in his second rehabilitation start for the team's Class-A affiliate in Peoria. "I felt really good," said Garciaparra, who played five innings in the Chiefs' 7-0 win over the visiting Dayton Dragons. "I wanted to go out there and not be as reserved." Garciaparra, 32, said his injured groin felt good after playing on back-to-back days and added that he will continue to work on strengthening the muscle and surrounding areas. In his first at-bat Thursday, Garciaparra drew a five-pitch walk and then went from first to third on a double to left by Ryan Harvey. He scored easily on a deep sacrifice fly to center field by Anthony Granato. "I picked it up a little bit today ... I'm definitely encouraged by that," Garciaparra said. "Like I said before, you just can't simulate a game. You really can't."
