When the votes for the AL Rookie of the Month were tallied, there was one common theme between those at the top of the voting. They were all Japanese. Daisuke Matsuzaka has created a tremendous buzz since signing with the Red Sox, who spent $103 million in posting fee and salary on the Japanese righthander. But Matsuzaka had to settle for third place in AL Rookie of the Month voting behind his teammate Hideki Okajima. Third baseman Akinori Iwamura of the Devils Rays was the runner-up.
