Johan Santana said a story in this week's Sports Illustrated, which reported the Minnesota left-hander has broken off contract talks with the Twins until his current contract expires after the 2008 season, is untrue. "I'm not closing doors," Santana said on Wednesday afternoon. "If we're closing doors, I would be saying I want to be out of here, and I never said anything like that. It's always there, but it's just that I'm not the one who's going to knock on the door." The magazine reported that the Twins had offered Santana a two-year extension to his contract worth $18 million each year. Asked if that was the case, Santana said, "No, like I said, we haven't talked about anything. "That's why I'm surprised (to hear about the report). I'm amazed. I don't negotiate through media, and I know there will be a lot of rumors going around. That's part of the situation that I have right. I don't go to that point."
