Duaner Sanchez took the first step in his quest to return to the Mets' bullpen.
The team announced Tuesday that Sanchez underwent successful surgery to repair a hairline fracture in his right shoulder.
The operation was performed by Dr. David Altchek at New York's Hospital for Special Surgery.
Sanchez will be cleared to resume rehabilitation within six to eight weeks. The righthander was diagnosed with a fracture of a small bone in the front of his right shoulder on March 26.
