Shohei Ohatani will miss the remainder of the 2023 season due to lingering irritation in his right oblique. Ohtani had already been ruled out as a pitcher due to a torn UCL.

Ohtani plans on continuing to hit and pitch down the road, and his agent, Nez Balelo of CAA, previously said he will be ready to at least hit "when the bell rings" at the start of the 2024 season.

Ohtani put together another spectacular season and appears to be a lock to win the American League's Most Valuable Player Award for the second time in three years.
