On the second pitch of his Grapefruit League outing against the Blue Jays, left-hander C.C. Sabathia was struck by a line drive off the bat of Jays leadoff man Reed Johnson. Sabathia tried to shield himself from the ball with his throwing hand and his glove. It appeared to strike him in the left wrist. A frustrated Sabathia came out of the game immediately. He was replaced by Tom Mastny. Coming into the outing, Sabathia had gone 1-1 with a 3.21 ERA in four spring starts. He looked ready to build on a strong 2006 in which he went 12-11 with a 3.22 ERA in 28 starts.
