The promising Jonathan Broxton, expected to be the Dodgers' primary setup man this season, faced five batters, walked three, went to three-ball counts on almost all of them, failed to retire any and saw all five score. Most disturbing was that he was missing not just off the corner, but all over the place and sometimes by as much as a foot. The result was that a close game got out of hand and the Dodgers trudged away with a 9-1 loss to the Washington Nationals. "I was just out there working on some stuff," Broxton said. "I fell behind a lot of hitters, and I couldn't bounce back from it. I was trying to find my splitty, but it kept going up and away. ... Earlier (this spring), I just went fastball-slider. I'm just now starting to work on my split. It's up in the zone right now, and I have to get it back down."
