Eddie Guardado has seen his name bandied about with the July 31 trade deadline coming up quickly. It's all been unofficial, just talk. The Boston Red Sox, some say. Others predict the New York Yankees will be the team wooing him away from general manager Bill Bavasi. "I've talked with Kevin (Kohler, Guardado's agent) a couple of times in the last couple of days, and those are the teams whose names keep coming up," Guardado said. "But I don't know if there's anything to it. "So far, it's mostly just a matter of reporters calling Kevin and seeing what he knows. Right now, we haven't heard anything official." You can mark this down as official: Guardado wants to stay. He is under contract to the Mariners for this year, and for next year there is a mutual option that either he or the club could activate.
