For the first time in his career, Curt Schilling is planning on becoming a free agent when his current contract expires. In an interview with Boston-based sports-radio station WEEI-AM Thursday morning, Schilling said that he and Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein talked on Wednesday and the team decided not to negotiate an extension to his contract, which ends after this season. "We talked yesterday, and they have decided to take more the business approach," Schilling told the station. "They are not going to negotiate until after this season. "Theo and I talked yesterday. I'm going to file for free agency. This will be the first time, amazing. I've never been through it."
