Kerry Wood, sidelined with a bruise after falling out of a hot tub, threw 10 pitches off a mound Saturday, and looked good, Cubs pitching coach Larry Rothschild said.
Wood had been expected to throw Monday, which would've been one week after the incident at his Phoenix area home. But Rothschild said the plan was to go day to day.
"He really looked good," Rothschild said of Wood, who bruised his chest in the fall. "It was only 10 pitches, but the fact that he's on his legs tells me that he feels good arm-wise. When the injury [with his right shoulder] started cropping up, he didn't use his legs at all because he didn't want to create arm speed and cause problems. You could tell he's done a lot of work with balance and really used his legs well. It was good to see."
