The Dodgers beat relief pitcher Joe Beimel in the club's first arbitration case in three years, setting his salary at $912,500 instead of the $1.25 million he sought. Beimel, 29, wanted a raise almost three times the $425,000 he was paid last season, when he made the team after signing as a minor league free agent and became the Dodgers' top left-handed reliever. The six-year veteran was 2-1 with two saves and a 2.96 earned-run average in 62 appearances.
