Howie Kendrick hit a grand slam in the top of the 10th inning to give the Washington Nationals a 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 of the NLDS on Wednesday night.

The Nationals will face the St. Louis Cardinals for the National League pennant.

Things looked promising for the Dodgers early on with Max Muncy and Enrique Hernandez going deep in the first and second innings, respectively. The Dodgers held a 3-0 lead until the sixth when the Nationals started to find their offense.

Juan Soto hit an RBI single in the sixth. Anthony Rendon and Soto each added solo home runs in the eighth.

Hernandez singled to left with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but L.A. couldn't get him into scoring position.

Kendrick's slam off of Joe Kelly came after Adam Eaton walked, Rendon hit a ground rule double and Soto was intentionally walked. The Dodgers went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning to end the game.

Clayton Kershaw came on to pitch in the seventh, allowing the home runs to Rendon and Soto and blowing the Dodgers' lead.
