The Houston Astros have a 2-0 series lead over the Tampa Bay Rays after a brilliant performance from Gerrit Cole on Saturday night.

Cole pitched 7 2/3 innings, recording 15 strikeouts and allowing just four hits. An amazing 83 of his 118 pitches were strikes.

The Astros led 3-0 heading into the ninth inning thanks to a solo home run from Alex Bregman in the fourth, an RBI single by Martin Maldonado in the seventh and a Carlos Correa RBI knock in the eighth. That's when Tampa Bay put some pressure on Houston to close out the game.

Austin Meadows and Tommy Pham opened the inning with singles off Roberto Osuna. Meadows then advanced to third on a wild pitch. The bases were quickly loaded when Ji-Man Choi walked. With no one out, Avisail Garcia grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Meadows.

Still threatening with two men on, Brandon Lowe walked to load the bases once again. A.J. Hinch called on Will Harris to clean up the mess with the game on the line and that he did. Travis d'Arnaud struck out looking and Kevin Kiermaier grounded out to first.

The Astros and Rays will play Game 3 in Florida on Monday afternoon.
