The Rockies signed pitcher Mike DeJean to a one-year contract.
DeJean went 14-9 with a 4.95 ERA with the Rockies from 1997-2000. After that, he pitched with the Brewers, Cardinals, Orioles and Mets. The Mets released him last month after he went 3-1 with a 6.31 ERA in 28 games.
DeJean (4-1) got the win with a scoreless inning of relief Thursday when the Rockies rallied past the Dodgers for an 8-5 victory.
To make room on the roster, the Rockies optioned reliever David Cortes to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Cortes allowed six runs and five hits in two appearances this week against the Dodgers.
