The Detroit Tigers aren't willing to put a timetable on when Joel Hanrahan will pitch for the franchise.

Detroit signed the reliever in May. He underwent Tommy John surgery last year after signing with the Boston Red Sox.

"I don't think there were any expectations of timeframe, because I've dealt enough with people coming back from Tommy Johns and major surgeries like that," Dave Dombrowski said. "There's a lot of ups and there's downs and there's really not a lot of consistency."

The right-hander has been throwing bullpen sessions consistently over the past week or so.

"There's been some times when he first threw that he threw very well," Dombrowski said. "But the thing is, when you start getting ready for the big leagues, you're talking about pitching back-to-back days. You're talking about throwing all your pitches. Really, there have been no expectations. Really, he's made progress, but I can't also say that he's close."
