The Atlanta Braves have seemingly been trying to figure out Dan Uggla's future since they left him off their roster for last fall's National League Division Series.
They were unable to find a team wiliing to trade for Uggla and his remaining salary and the infielder's struggles have remained. He is hitting .184/.241/.272 with 31 strikeouts and six walks in 103 at-bats this season.
"After spending time this week evaluating the financial consequences, the Braves have moved away from the thought of releasing Uggla. But this decision does not necessarily provide clear indication of who might serve as their primary second baseman over the remainder of the season," writes Mark Bowman.
If the Braves released Uggla, they would still be responsible for the approximate $24 million he is owed through the end of the 2015 season.
