Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez pitched three innings in extended spring training in Clearwater, Florida on Monday.

The Philadelphia Phillies signed the Cuban right-hander to a three-year, $12 million contract this offseason.

The club hoped he would help them early in 2014, but that went out the window when Gonzalez experienced arm tightness in spring training and was unable to crank up his fastball.

The 27-year-old will soon pitch in the minor leagues.
