Roy Halladay will retire with the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday after signing a one-day contract with the club, according to sources.

Halladay missed much of the 2013 season after having surgery on his shoulder in May to repair a partially torn rotator cuff and remove a bone spur. He also had some fraying of the labrum.

The right-hander spent the last four seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, but was a member of the Blue Jays during his prime.
