Mariano Rivera apologized to fans of the Houston Astros on Sunday.

Rivera was honest about why he didn't pitch in the final three games of his career. He said it couldn't get any better than Thursday night at Yankee Stadium, when he wept on the shoulder of Andy Pettitte as the left-hander and Derek Jeter came to the mound to take him out of a game for the last time.

"I want to keep that memory of mine," Rivera told the crowd at Minute Maid Park. "For that, I apologize. You guys deserved more, but I'm being a little selfish."
