John Lackey led the Boston Red Sox to a win over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night, allowing the team to clinch a playoff berth a year after they won just 69 games.

Lackey pitched a two-hit complete game against the American League East rival.

The Red Sox are ensured of at least a Wild Card berth. They have a magic number of one to clinch the AL East title.

"We've still got some other goals ahead of us," Lackey said. "Hopefully, here in the next night or two we can get a party going."
