Jason Giambi will be out of the lineup this weekend against the Devil Rays with his left wrist injury, and the first baseman may be forced to undergo surgery this winter if the problem doesn't correct itself. While his team traveled to Tampa on Wednesday night, Giambi returned to New York, where he was examined by hand specialist Dr. Melvin Rosenwasser and team physician Dr. Stuart Hershon. An MRI and CT scan revealed no changes from previous studies, which had revealed tendinitis and a small ligament tear in the wrist. The team said that if the pain continues, arthroscopic surgery might be necessary this winter.
