The Washington Nationals have shut down Taylor Jordan for the remainder of the season.

Jordan, who has been dealing with back issues, has reached a total of 142 innings between the major and minor leagues.

This is Jordan's first full season since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2011.

"There's no sense chancing him since he was only going to have a limited number of starts the rest of the way," Davey Johnson said. "With the back problem, you don't want a guy coming out there and hurting his arm with something bothering his delivery. So that became a no-brainer then."
