Howie Kendrick was helped off the field Monday night after hyperextending his left knee while chasing a popup in the outfield.

Kendrick was hurt in the fifth inning of the game between the Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers.

Collin Cowgill also came forward and slid toward the popup. Kendrick still attempted to make the play and bent his left leg awkwardly while trying to avoid Cowgill, losing the ball from his glove.

"I was in a lot of pain at the time," Kendrick said. "It's really sore, but I can put a little bit of pressure on it, so that's always a good sign."
