Royals Manager Buddy Bell will be taking a leave of absence from his managerial duties due to medical reasons, the Kansas City Royals announced Wednesday. As part of a routine examination, a growth was discovered near Bell?s left tonsil. At the direction of his doctor and the organization, Bell will seek a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona on Thursday. Bell, who makes his home in Chandler, Ariz., during the off-season, notified his team prior to Wednesday?s game. Bench Coach Billy Doran will serve as interim manager until Bell?s return.
