The Yankees placed reliever Joba Chamberlain on the disabled list Thursday with a strained right oblique, according to an ESPN.com report.
Setup man David Robertson also went for an MRI on Thursday, but his lower left hamstring strain will not require a DL stint, and the right-hander is day to day, GM Brian Cashman said.
Cashman did not know who would be called up to replace Chamberlain, but said Triple-A righties Mark Montgomery, Preston Claiborne and Sam Demmel were under consideration.
