After being traded to the Royals, longtime Angels pitcher Ervin Santana feels like a first-year player as he embraces a new start.
He toured Kauffman Stadium on Monday after a trade earlier this month sent him from Los Angeles to the Royals for a minor league pitcher and some cash to help cover his contract.
"It's like I'm a rookie now," Santana said. "It's a new team."
Santana, who will turn 30 in December, has shown the potential to be a No. 1 starter, winning at least 16 games in three seasons. He threw a no-hitter in 2011.
