The Minnesota Twins agreed to terms with backup catcher Mike Redmond on a two-year extension Thursday, with a club option for 2009.
The 35-year-old Redmond is one of the team's most popular locker room presences and has been backing up All-Star Joe Mauer throughout this season.
Mauer leads the majors in hitting with a .375 average, but Redmond is also doing a solid job on that front as a backup hitting .333 with eight doubles and 14 RBI in 29 games this season, most of the time playing in a day game after a night game.
