Matt Kemp began his rehab assignment on Tuesday night with a two-hit performance at Class A Rancho Cucamonga. In the lineup as the team's designated hitter, Kemp singled to left field in his first at-bat and scored from third base later in the first inning. The two-time All-Star walked in the second inning and struck out in the fourth before capping his night with a line-drive single to right field in the seventh. Kemp had been sidelined since May 30, when he aggravated his left hamstring and returned to the disabled list. He plans to return on July 13.
