Close to 70 games into the season, general manager Kevin Towers is still trying to figure out where the Diamondbacks belong. Arizona is a game under .500 as the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline approaches. "I still feel deep down inside that this is a better club than we had last year," Towers said. "I still believe in them. I look at it, I look at the depth, I look at the pitching, the experience of last year, and it's just kind of waiting for it to happen. I think it's going to happen. "It's why I'm being kind of cautious here until we get up to the deadline to have a better read of what to do." At this point, Towers isn't a buyer or a seller. He is just surveying the landscape. "Day to day, I don't know who's going to show up," he said. "It's hard. I haven't been able to put my finger on it. It's the first time in a long time that I've been with a team (at this point in the season) that I'm still trying to figure out."
