Carl Crawford plans to seek a second opinion on his troublesome left elbow, according to Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine. Crawford returned to Florida on Tuesday night, where he has been rehabbing, after being examined in Boston earlier in the day. "It's always serious, the way I look at it," Valentine said, "but it doesn't seem major." Crawford, who also had offseason wrist surgery, has taken some at-bats but has not played the field in extended spring training games, and no timetable has been set for when he can resume throwing.
