The Yankees have had internal discussions about designating Shawn Chacon for assignment, according to sources, in the hope that they could send him to the minors (because of his service time, Chacon can't be optioned). If he were designated, however, another team could claim him on waivers, ending his time in pinstripes. "If I lose my spot in the rotation or if it's the other thing, I'll have to deal with it," Chacon said late last night. "That would be a first, but I know this is a business. I know how it works. I'm not thinking about it because it's out of my control."
