The Rays have signed veteran catcher Jose Molina to a one-year, $1.5 million for the 2012 season. Tampa Bay holds a $1.8 million option for 2013 with a $300,000 buyout. The signing comes one day after the Rays traded catcher John Jaso to Seattle for pitcher Josh Lueke and a player to be named later or cash.
