Albert Pujols took the field at U.S. Cellular Field on Tuesday, undergoing his most extensive workout since sustaining a strained oblique muscle on June 3. Pujols was unable to take batting practice on the field due to afternoon rain, but he swung in the batting cage. It was another step forward for the reigning National League MVP, who is eligible to be activated from the disabled list whenever he is ready. "[I'm watching] his recovery -- how he recovers the next day," said head athletic trainer Barry Weinberg. "[The field staff] will judge how he looks. Jose Oquendo knows how he's fielding, and the hitting coach knows how he's swinging the bat. I can judge his recovery."
