Former major league GM Joe McIlvaine was hired as a special assistant to Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik on Monday. The 64-year-old McIlvaine served as GM of the Padres and Mets during the 1990s. He has been with the Twins since 1998, the last 11 years as a special assistant.
