Alex Rodriguez has been penciled into Thursday's lineup against the A's, but he remains a game-time decision.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi said the team will evaluate Rodriguez after warm-ups and see if he is ready to play after missing the previous two games with a sprained thumb.
If Rodriguez plays, he will bat in his normal cleanup spot and play third base.
"If he can't play, we'll make adjustments," Girardi said.
