With the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline nearing, Giants general manager Brian Sabean said his club is "not close to anything right now." Sabean confirmed that he has spoken to many teams and rumors continue to link the Giants to the Mets and All-Star outfielder Carlos Beltran. "I think we need to upgrade. Whether that can happen in a significant way, I'm not sure. The talent pool isn't in our favor," Sabean said. "Having said that, I don't believe there's one silver bullet. Quite frankly, the lineup needs a lot of help. It might not be just one player." Sabean also said he has a "definite no-trade list" of prospects -- about three or four players.
