Leading off the first inning on Sunday, Florida's Emilio Bonifacio lined a single to right off New York's Dillon Gee to extend his hitting streak to 23 games. "You want to make good contact," Bonifacio said. "You can't always control where it's going to go, but I want to hit the ball on the ground. [Hitting the ball deep] is not part of my game." More than the streak, the Marlins are preaching to Bonifacio the importance of reaching base any way he can. "He is doing things right. He's getting on base," hitting coach Eduardo Perez said. "We're telling him, 'You've got to get on base three times, we don't care how.'"
