Yankees right-hander Phil Hughes pitched six strong innings against the Blue Jays on Sunday, earning his first win of 2011 in the process.
"It is almost like making a trade," manager Joe Girardi said.
Hughes, 25, was an All-Star in 2010. He allowed just two runs on four hits and struck out five against Toronto.
In the first half, he let down his team and himself, going 0-2 with a 10.57 ERA.
"I wish I didn't take this long to get my first one," Hughes said.
