White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham took a bad hop to the face on Friday night, but suffered no serious injuries. X-rays and a CT scan late Friday night at a Toronto hospital both came back normal, according to a White Sox spokesperson, who said "no fractures were found." Beckham also received a full vision exam "that came back normal," the spokesperson said. "I can see fine," Beckham said Saturday. "I think once the swelling goes down I'll be back in there. I don't know if it's tomorrow or Monday. If it's not tomorrow, then it's Monday I assume. I can see now but you can see this knot I have under my eye, which is a lot of fun." In the third inning of Friday night's game at Toronto, the Blue Jays' Juan Rivera hit a ball to the wall in left-center field. Alex Rios retrieved it and threw it in to Beckham, who was covering second base. The ball took a late and awkward hop, either hitting a seam in the artificial surface or getting its direction altered by the rubber granules spread throughout the turf to help it better mimic real grass when a ball is skipping across its surface. It bounced over Beckham's outstretched glove and hit him over the left eye.
