Cubs center fielder Marlon Byrd, who was hit in the head by a pitch on Saturday, has been placed on the disabled list with facial fractures. Byrd was released from the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmiry on Sunday afternoon and will fly home with the team. He's scheduled to see a specialist in Chicago this week. On Saturday, a fastball from Red Sox starter Alfredo Aceves hit Byrd under the left eye in the second inning.
