Giants manager Bruce Bochy estimates that third baseman Pablo Sandoval is probably two to three weeks away from returning. Sandoval underwent surgery to remove a fractured hamate bone in his hand. He played catch with Bochy and ran the bases during batting practice Friday. Bochy added that Sandoval can grip a bat and is close to taking right-handed swings off a tee then moving on to soft toss, batting practice in the cage and, finally, back on the field. "I'd say he's two to three weeks [away]. We're not going to rush him or risk him having a setback, but he's doing quite well," Bochy said. "Once you get out on the field, you kind of have a tendency to want to let it go, so we want to make sure they're ready before we let them hit out on the field."
