For the first time since June 25, 1993; the Detroit Tigers find themselves in first place, nestled at the top of the American League Central.
To manager Jim Leyland, at this point in the season this is only a mere technicality.
"If we're in first place after the last game of the season," he said, "it would mean a whole heck of lot to me. But not right now."
To Brandon Inge, a share of first means, "Something good, but it's too early to be anything more than that. It's a good change from where we've been in the past -- a pleasant change, something for the fans to be happy about."
