The Mets and outfielder Carlos Beltran are planning for Opening Day. Beltran met with manager Terry Collins on Wednesday morning to formulate a plan to have him ready for the start of the season. If Beltran is going to play on April 1 against the Marlins, he'll have to follow the script perfectly, according to general manager Sandy Alderson. Originally dealing with an arthritic right knee, Beltran developed left knee tendinitis in camp and required a cortisone shot. He has been limited to three at-bats in the Grapefruit league this season.
