The San Francisco Giants have won the World Series for the first time since moving west in 1958 and the first time since 1954, beating Texas by a final of 3-1. The Giants have now won six championships in their franchise history. Edgar Renteria hit a three-run homer off of Cliff Lee in the top of the seventh inning to give the Giants all the runs they needed. Renteria joined Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Yogi Berra as the only hitters to have the game-winning RBI in two series clinching games. Nelson Cruz hit a solo homer in the top of the seventh off of Tim Lincecum, one of only three hits San Francisco's starter gave up all night. Lincecum struck out 10 batters in his eight innings of work. Bruce Bochy, who was brilliant throughout the entire postseason, elected to have Brian Wilson start the bottom of the ninth inning and retired the Rangers in order. Wilson struck out Nelson Cruz on a full count to win the game and the World Series.
