When Carlos Gonzalez had only been in the MLB for a few games, he robbed Albert Pujols of an extra-base hit.
"He's one of the greatest guys in baseball. He wants to help you, wants to teach you how to play this game," Gonzalez said. "Last year and this year, when we've had a little bit of time, we've kind of talked to each other. He's always making sure you're doing the right thing."
Gonzalez said no one actually brought them together through an introduction. They were simply drawn together because Gonzalez admired Pujols' accomplishments and Pujols saw Gonzalez's desire.
"I'm sure that Americans feel the same way that we do. Latin players see each other, and we know we play the same game," Gonzalez said. "It's like we knew each other for a long time. We just talked."
