Phillies second baseman Chase Utley is hoping to return to the field by the end of August. Utley said he isn't allowed to hit or throw until he sees the doctor again next week. He had surgery on his right hand July 1. He has taken ground balls for the past few weeks and recently starting soft-tossing balls. Utley recently had a splint taken off his hand. "I'm glad it's gone," Utley said. "I'm extremely eager to get back. I've been going nuts on the bench."
