On Sunday, Chien-Ming Wang, the starting pitcher, left with a bruised right kneecap in the third inning of the Yankees' 9-8 exhibition victory against the Detroit Tigers. Wang was hit by a one-hop grounder from Curtis Granderson, then was taken to a hospital for X-rays, which were negative. "Not too bad," Wang said after he returned to Legends Field. "I'm O.K." Manager Joe Torre said the team would not know for 48 hours whether Wang would miss his next start. "One thing you don't want to mess with is him favoring one thing and hurting his arm," Torre said.
