Japan won the World Baseball Classic with Ichiro Suzuki hitting third, not leadoff. That's where bicontinental manager Bobby Valentine long ago said he would bat him, and the Mariners at least are giving it a thought. "I always have been intrigued by Ichiro hitting third," Seattle manager Mike Hargrove said. "When I managed against him with Baltimore I was intrigued by the idea. It is not out of the realm of possibility that it would happen here. . . . That would never be done without first discussing it with Ichiro."
