Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was hit by a fastball in the eighth inning of the team's victory over the Royals on Sunday. Rodriguez came to the plate with the bases loaded and stuck at 599 career home runs. He dropped to the ground and didn't move for a couple of seconds as the crowd gasped, fearful that he had been hit in the face. He was removed from the game in favor of a pinch runner, having been hit by the ball on his left hand. Rodriguez said he felt "pretty much full strength" in his hand after the game. He is expected to play on Monday against the Indians.
