Twins manager Ron Gardenhire says catcher Joe Mauer is "getting real close" to returning. Mauer's bruised left heel is improving. He took batting practice on Saturday before the first game of a split doubleheader against the Orioles and jogged around the bases. Gardenhire says he won't rule out pinch-hitting Mauer this weekend.
